Afsarah Alom

Early Years Lead Practitioner Apprentice

Afsarah Alom began her journey with Global Skills in September 2023, enrolling on the Early Years Educator apprenticeship, which she successfully completed in March 2025, achieving an outstanding distinction.

Reflecting on Afsarah’s early stages, her trainer Fauzia explains that although Afsarah was initially shy and lacked confidence, she was extremely keen, hardworking, and dedicated to her learning. Through consistent effort and commitment, she grew in confidence and demonstrated a strong academic ability, culminating in her excellent achievement.

Building on this success, Afsarah has since returned to Global Skills to undertake the Early Years Lead Practitioner Level 5 apprenticeship. Alongside her studies, she has progressed into a Room Leader role in the baby room, where she now supervises four members of staff. This step into leadership has allowed her to further develop her confidence, professional practice, and leadership skills to meet the demands of her new role.

Trainer’s comment:

“Her progression has been remarkable, and I am incredibly proud of everything she has achieved at such a young age.”

Afsarah’s comment:

“I am enjoying this apprenticeship. It goes into more depth and really looks at my new role.”

Afsarah’s journey is a fantastic example of how apprenticeships can support long-term career progression, helping learners grow from entry-level roles into confident leaders within the early years sector.
